Dress for comfort or attend in Costume to add to the Fun of the Day!
The Vandalia Renaissance and Fantasy Faire is an outdoor event and will be held rain or shine. Our village is spread out around the Shrine Park which has lawn, gravel and paved surfaces so comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
You are invited to come dressed in costume. All attendees, regardless of costuming, should be attired -- meaning that shoes, shirts, and pants or a skirts must be worn at all times. Ensuring that the event is family-friendly is an important part of the festival experience. In that spirit, we ask you to use your discretion and common sense.
All weapons should be fully sheathed and peace-tied.
-
Foam/LARP/Plastic weapons do not need to be sheathed where sheaths do not exist for their dimensions. Realistic-looking weapons cannot be carried “in hand” and must be peace-tied to your person. Exposed sharpened steel is not permitted. Metal blades must be zip-tied into their sheath and to your belt or baldric.
-
Wooden walking sticks are mobility devices and do not fall under our weapon policy.
-
You may bring a bow and arrows; however, the bow must be unstrung or strung with yarn or some other cord that cannot hold tension. Arrows must be un-tipped and peace-tied into their quiver.
Reproductions of modern-era weapons are strictly not allowed. Real or prop firearms of any kind are not permitted inside the Faire. This includes and is not limited to all replica firearms, toys, fantasy firearms, water guns, bubble guns, etc.
Our security team reserves the right to check all weapons at the gate to ensure that they are compliant and to offer assistance if needed. If a weapon is deemed non-compliant by the security team or police, you will be asked to return it to your vehicle before you may enter the Faire.
Costume masks are accepted with management approval. Full face masks must be removed upon entry at the front gate.
VRAFF’s management asks that you assist us in providing a welcoming, inviting and enjoyable entertainment experience for attendees of all ages.
